Pedal to DC
Book Tour to Save the Boundary Waters
April 20-June 18, 2018
Covering 2,000 miles and crossing nine states, authors and National Geographic Adventurers of the Year Amy and Dave Freeman are biking from Ely, Minnesota, to Washington D.C. this spring to promote their new book, A Year in the Wilderness, and continue their efforts to protect the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, one of our country’s most precious and expansive Wilderness areas. With collaborative support from the Campaign to Save the Boundary Waters and Milkweed Editions, the Freemans will take their story, as told in their recent book A Year in the Wilderness (Milkweed Editions) to new audiences as they pedal to the nation’s capital. The Freemans will tow a canoe behind their bikes, which will serve as a reminder of the wilderness they have pledged to protect. The canoe is also a petition for citizens to sign to show support for protecting the Boundary Waters from proposed sulfide-ore copper mining.
Time: 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Location: Blue Heron Coffeehouse
Summary: Join authors and Explorers Dave and Amy Freeman at Blue Heron Coffeehouse to celebrate Pedal to D.C.: A Book Tour to Save the Boundary Waters. They will be there for a presentation, audience Q&A, and book signing. You’ll also have a chance to sign their canoe to show your support!
